The Answer
Mary Magdalene was the first person to see the risen Christ. She had gone to the tomb early on Sunday morning and found it empty. As she stood weeping, Jesus appeared to her and called her by name. He then sent her to tell the disciples — making her the first evangelist of the resurrection.
"Jesus said to her, 'Mary.' She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, 'Rabboni!' (which means 'Teacher')."
— John 20:16
Today's Devotion
✦In a culture that did not accept the testimony of women in court, Jesus chose a woman as the very first witness of the most important event in human history. That was not an accident. It was a statement.
Mary Magdalene had been delivered from great darkness — seven demons, according to Luke. She had every reason to feel disqualified, overlooked, or less-than. And yet Jesus chose her. He called her by name. He trusted her with the message that would change the world.
If you have ever felt unseen, unqualified, or too broken to be used by God — let Mary's story rewrite that lie. He knows your name. He sees your faithfulness. And He has a message that only you can carry.
