The Answer
On the first day of creation, God spoke light into existence. "Let there be light," He said — and there was light. God separated the light from the darkness, calling the light "day" and the darkness "night." Notably, the sun and moon were not created until the fourth day, meaning the source of this first light was God Himself.
"And God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness."

Today's Devotion
✦Before anything else existed — before the stars, the ocean, the mountains, the animals, or humanity — God created light. It was His first act, His first word into the void, His first gift to a formless world.
That tells us something profound about God's nature. He does not leave us in darkness. Wherever there is emptiness, He speaks. Wherever there is chaos, He brings order. And it always begins with light.
