The Answer
Moses was approximately eighty years old when God appeared to him in the burning bush and called him to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. He had spent his first forty years in Pharaoh's palace and the next forty years as a shepherd in Midian. His greatest calling came in what many would consider the final chapter of life.
"When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, 'Moses! Moses!' And Moses said, 'Here I am.'"
— Exodus 3:4
Today's Devotion
✦Eighty years old. Forty years removed from his former life of influence. Working as a shepherd in an obscure desert. By any human measure, Moses' window of opportunity had closed.
But God does not operate on our timeline. He spent eighty years preparing Moses for a calling that would take the next forty. The palace years taught him leadership and Egyptian culture. The desert years taught him humility, patience, and the terrain he would one day lead a nation through.
Nothing in your life has been wasted. Not the difficult seasons. Not the quiet years. Not the detours. If you feel like your best days are behind you, look at Moses and think again. God's most important assignments often come after the world says your time has passed.
