The Answer
God took Abraham outside, told him to look up at the night sky, and promised that his descendants would be as countless as the stars. This promise came when Abraham was old and childless, making it seem impossible by any human measure.
"He took him outside and said, 'Look up at the sky and count the stars — if indeed you can count them.' Then he said to him, 'So shall your offspring be.'"
— Genesis 15:5
Today's Devotion
✦God made His biggest promise to Abraham under a dark sky. Not in a palace, not in a temple — but outdoors, at night, when everything around him was vast and quiet and unknown.
There is something about darkness that makes us look up. When everything is bright and busy, we look around. But when the world goes dark, we lift our eyes. And that is often when God speaks His most breathtaking promises.
If you are in a dark season, go outside tonight. Look up. The same God who spoke to Abraham under those stars is speaking to you. His promises do not expire because your circumstances feel impossible. They were designed for the impossible.
