Who was the tax collector that climbed a sycamore tree to see Jesus?

Zacchaeus was a chief tax collector in Jericho — wealthy, despised, and too short to see over the crowd. He climbed a sycamore-fig tree to catch a glimpse of Jesus, and Jesus stopped directly beneath it and called him down by name.

Zacchaeus was looking for Jesus. But the beautiful surprise of this story is that Jesus was already looking for Zacchaeus. He did not just notice him — He stopped, looked up, called him by name, and invited Himself into his home.
