From what city did God call Abram before he journeyed toward Canaan?

The Answer
Abram's family came from Ur of the Chaldeans, a prosperous city in Mesopotamia. God called him to leave his country, his people, and his father's household to go to a land God would show him. God later reminded Abram of this origin when confirming His covenant promise of the land.
"He also said to him, 'I am the Lord, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to take possession of it.'"
— Genesis 15:7
Today's Devotion
✦Abram left one of the great cities of his age for a destination God would not even name in advance. The call was not 'go to Canaan' — it was 'go to the land I will show you.' The only map he received was a relationship.
Most of us want the itinerary before we agree to the trip. God tends to reverse the order: obedience first, details later. That is not cruelty; it is how trust is built.
Is there a step you already know God is asking you to take, but you are waiting for the full picture first? Take the step. The One who called Abram out of Ur still walks ahead of His people.
