The Answer
The Magi traveled from the east, following a star, and presented the child Jesus with gold, frankincense and myrrh. Many see rich symbolism in these gifts: gold for a king, frankincense for a priest, and myrrh — a burial spice — hinting at the sacrifice Jesus would one day make.
"On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh."
— Matthew 2:11
Today's Devotion
✦The Magi were outsiders — foreign scholars who did not grow up with the promises of Israel. Yet they were among the very first to worship Jesus. From the beginning, the invitation to seek Him was open to everyone.
Notice what they did when they found Him: they bowed down, and then they opened their treasures. Worship came first; giving flowed out of it. Their gifts were not a payment but a response to who He was.
What treasure are you holding today — time, talent, resources, attention? True worship always ends with open hands. Bring Him your best, not because He needs it, but because He is worth it.
