On what island was John when he received the visions recorded in the book of Revelation?

The Answer
John was exiled on the small, rocky island of Patmos in the Aegean Sea because of his testimony about Jesus. There, 'on the Lord's Day,' he was in the Spirit and received the sweeping visions of the risen Christ, the letters to the seven churches, and the ultimate triumph of God that make up the book of Revelation.
"I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus."
— Revelation 1:9
Today's Devotion
✦Patmos was meant to silence John. Rome exiled him to a barren island to cut him off from the churches he loved and end his influence. Instead, that island became the place where heaven opened — and the vision he received there has strengthened believers for two thousand years.
What the enemy intended as isolation, God used as revelation. John's confinement did not limit God's voice; if anything, the quiet made it easier to hear.
Maybe you are in a Patmos season — sidelined by circumstances, cut off from what feels like your real life. Do not assume God is absent from the island. Some of His clearest words come in our most confined places. He gets the last word, and it is victory.
