For how many pieces of silver did Judas agree to betray Jesus?

The Answer
Judas Iscariot went to the chief priests and asked what they would give him to deliver Jesus over to them, and they counted out thirty pieces of silver — the price of a slave in Exodus 21:32 and an echo of Zechariah's prophecy. Later, seized with remorse, Judas threw the money back into the temple.
"and asked, 'What are you willing to give me if I deliver him over to you?' So they counted out for him thirty pieces of silver."
— Matthew 26:15
Today's Devotion
✦Thirty pieces of silver. Judas walked with Jesus for three years — saw the miracles, heard the teaching, shared the meals — and traded it all for a bag of coins he would throw away within days.
Before we judge him too quickly, it is worth asking what our own price points are. Rarely does anyone abandon their convictions in one dramatic transaction. It happens in small trades: integrity for advancement, presence for productivity, faith for comfort.
The good news is that the same night Judas betrayed Him, Jesus broke bread and spoke of a new covenant — one strong enough to cover every betrayal we bring to it. Guard your heart today, and when you fail, run toward Him, not away.
