What was Jesus' first recorded miracle?

The Answer
At a wedding in Cana of Galilee, the hosts ran out of wine — a serious social embarrassment in that culture. At His mother's prompting, Jesus instructed the servants to fill six stone jars with water, which He turned into the finest wine of the feast. John calls this the first of Jesus' signs, through which He revealed His glory.
"What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him."
— John 2:11
Today's Devotion
✦It is striking that Jesus' first miracle was not a dramatic healing or a cosmic display of power. It was rescuing a wedding celebration. The Son of God chose to reveal His glory by saving a party.
That tells us something wonderful: God cares about our joy, not just our crises. He is present in the celebrations of life, not only the emergencies. And when He provides, He provides abundantly — the master of the banquet marveled that the best wine came last.
Invite Jesus into your ordinary moments today — the meals, the gatherings, the small celebrations. He does some of His best work there.
